Biblical Rebekah Pitcher. Small pottery pitcher with handle. Living water
Rebekah Pitcher $38 includes shipping $28 In-store
The shape of this pitcher is like the shape used in Bible days. A rope would be tied around the handle, and then lowered into the well. When the pitcher was raised up, the water would not spill. The long narrow neck is challenging to make, but stands tall and graceful.
Due to the style, the pitcher does NOT pour well, and intended more for display.
About 8" tallPotter: Janet Bolick Calhoun
Comes with a card that reads: "The Rebekah pitcher dates back to the Bible. The pitcher, with it's high handle, would be lowered into the well with a rope attached to the handle. This would allow the water not to spill when pulled out of the well. In Genesis Chapter 24 we read about Rebekah and how her circumstances changed when she went to the well. In John Chapter 4, we read of a Samaritan women that met Jesus at the well and there He told her about the living water. John 4:14 But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
